In Loving Memory of Lost Friends
In Memory
The past few years have taken their toll on our hearts. Honored are horses who have gone to greener pastures awaiting their owners arrival to the Rainbow Bridge. These were, and are, friends, our companions, and our hearts. With the exception of Power's Song, these horses had left our care, however our hearts are with all horses that have come and gone, and their owners as well.
Maajian,
born February 15,1995, was humanely euthanized, January
9, 2011 from complications of colic. Maajian had been with us for training
and his loving owner and our dear friend, KC Roberson had ridden with us for
years using Maajian for her lesson horse. They also attend shows
together. We will miss him greatly with his willingness to
learn and his soft nudging kisses.
Misty, born 1983, passed away in her sleep December 1, 2010. "Misty was an
exceptional Quarter Horse, she was part of our family for 20 years. She
was great on trails, went to camps, participated in hunter shows and loved to
jump small jumps. She will be forever missed." Misty was part of the
family of Ron and Kathy Jessen.
MM
SCAT, owned by Dr. Valerie Bixler, was humanely euthanized 07/21/07 due to
colic. Scat was a friend and an asset to our breeding program. He
knew Mark well upon sight as the one who had the mares. He was comical and
loving and will be missed.
I M PRESSED MY DAD, affectionately known as "Jammer", was euthanized due to
severe injury while playing. After enjoying the love of many little
girls while in our barn, Jammer was purchased by Jackie and Raymond Spillman.
"Jammer was the sleepiest boy I have ever known" Mark would say. Raymond
rode Jammer around his cows and Jammer loved to play with the goldfish in the
watering trough.
POWER'S
SONG, aka: "Mama Song" (and probably many names given by pasture horses when
they entered her domain). Mama Song died peacefully in her sleep 08/12/07
from old age and complications from arthritis . "In over 30 years in
horses, she is the first I have lost." Song was owned by Mark Hixon.
He purchased her to keep her from going to the sale barn. Mama Song was
known by all our customers, old and new. She would greet all with a
whinny, and her "where are the cookies" look. She was 25, and though only
with us for 5 years, they were the best. She was granddaughter to Roman
Straw Man. She had a brief show career in her younger years and National ApHC points.
DELILAH, aka: "one of the best damn horses we have ever seen." Delilah,
pictured here with her owner Heather, was the kindest, most gentle, most quiet,
most loving 3 year old filly we have ever seen. Heather, at age 13,
started Delilah and the Love Just Kept Going. To everyone's sadness,
Delilah was humanely euthanized February 8, 2007 due to complications from a severe injury.
Although several weeks passed following the injury, she tolerated the pain, the
medical procedures and tears from us and tried her best to fight. "In my
over 30 years with horses and customers, I really don't believe I've seen a
better match." Heather now owns "Tootsie", a Dreamin Free Spirit filly
from Hixon Show Horses. Although Tootsie has some mighty big shoes to
fill, the love has already started to grow between these two.
SUITABLY
SMOOTH, aka: "Sue", was owned by Pam Ellis. Sue was humanely euthanized,
November 20, 2005,
due to injuries she sustained in a pasture accident. Sue, an ApHC mare, was in training and/or boarded
with us for several years before moving to NC with Pam. Pam rode and showed Sue in Hunter Under Saddle,
and then much to Gaye's delight, decided to give Trail a try. Sue was a
quick study and was soon winning open show Trail classes with style and ease.
Sue had a personality any barn or owner would appreciate. She always made
us smile with her head gyrations at feeding time. She will be greatly missed.
